Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Operation:
- Operate loading shovel safely and efficiently to load limestone, aggregates, and other materials into dump trucks, crushers, plants or stockpiles.
- Carry out daily pre-start checks and ensure the loading shovel is maintained in safe working order.
- Operate machinery in line with quarry traffic management and designated operating areas.
- Ensure accurate loading to prevent overloading and spillage.
Safety & Compliance:
- Strictly adhere to all health and safety legislation, company policies, and quarry safety procedures.
- Wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times while on site.
- Maintain vigilance for pedestrians, vehicles, and other machinery operating within the quarry.
- Immediately report accidents, near misses, hazards, or unsafe conditions to the site supervisor.
Site Operations & Maintenance:
- Assist with stockpile management to ensure correct grading and segregation of materials.
- Maintain housekeeping standards around loading, storage, and traffic areas.
- Report mechanical faults, defects, or maintenance issues promptly.
- Keep the loading shovel clean, fuelled, and well maintained.
Teamwork & Communication:
- Work closely with the Production Manager, excavator operators, dump truck drivers, and other quarry personnel.
- Communicate clearly via radio or other approved communication systems to coordinate quarry operations.
- Follow instructions and respond flexibly to changing operational demands.
Environmental Compliance:
- Comply with environmental regulations and quarry best practices to minimise dust, noise, and environmental impact.
- Operate machinery responsibly to avoid unnecessary spillage or disturbance.
General Duties:
- Assist with other quarry-related tasks as required, including road maintenance, stock management, and basic site duties.
- Support colleagues to ensure efficient and safe daily quarry operations.
Work Location: Cong, Co Mayo
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 6 months experience driving.
- Manual handling training is an advantage (can be provided if needed)
- Building services experience is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills, punctuality, motivation, and ability to work in a team.
