McGraths Limestone have a challenging and exciting position opening as our Transport and Logistics Manager focusing on all aspects of the transport operation; from when the order is placed with our sales team, to when the orders are delivered to our customers.

The ideal candidate needs to be a motivated and customer focused individual with the ability to work on their own initiative with strong communication and leadership skills.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Overall management of busy Transport and Logistics Department
    • Lead, encourage and drive continuous improvement of the department in line with strategic goals and objectives of the business.
    • Build and improve customer service approach within the team
    • Relationship management, communication, and conflict handling
    • Oversee and develop internal processes, procedures, and policies
    • Ensure all paperwork is completed in a timely manner
    • Monitor inventory levels, reporting any problem areas to senior management.
    • Organizing shift work, after hours work, weekend schedules.
    • Deal with daily issues / complaints as they arise

 

  • Transport & Logistics
    • Develop new transport solutions for the company.
    • Route and driver roster planning to drive efficiencies while meeting customer requirements
    • Deal with RSA / CPC’s / haulage licenses etc.
    • Weekly truck costings
    • Coordinate with production to ensure proper storage and distribution of products
    • Organise shipping ex Galway port by sea and monitor warehouse stocks etc.
    • Ensure shipping export documents are accurate and prepared in a timely fashion
    • Oversee the UK sites (Clydebank / Buxton)
  • Reporting
    • Work closely with senior management and relevant departments to ensure best practice guidelines are adhered to and guarantee the prompt and full availability of goods to ensure optimal efficiency.
    • Responsible for the efficient and cost-effective operation of the fleet.
    • Monitor and assess KPI’s and where appropriate implement timely corrective actions
    • Complete a weekly summary report of the transport departments performance and issue to the Senior Management team.
    • Assist the management team in delivering annual targets
    • Ensure order fulfilment to customer satisfaction

 

 

Knowledge & Skills required

  • BA in Business or Supply Chain field, or equal by experience
  • 3+ years’ experience within a similar role.
  • Strong IT experience essential, including MS Office.
  • Haulage and logistics procurement experience essential
  • Able to challenge at all levels, using appropriate manner and behaviour to encourage positive change
  • A positive and flexible attitude, and works well under pressure
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, drivers, and hauliers
  • Excellent problem solving, organisational skills and structured approach to work.
  • Ability to complete tasks, maintain documentation, and adhere to best practice standards.
  • Aptitude to take ownership of improvement projects as required and to see them through to completion.
  • Ability to work in a challenging and busy environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience of Quarrying operations or construction background will be a distinct advantage
